Augustinians' Final Mass at Saint Matthew Catholic Church in Flint, Michigan

  • St. Matthew Catholic Church 706 Beach Street Flint, MI, 48502 United States (map)
“The main purpose for you having come together is to live harmoniously in your house, intent upon God in oneness of mind and heart.”  -Saint Augustine

Ninety years ago, an Augustinian named Father Mortimer Sullivan, O.S.A., embarked on a new journey in Flint, Michigan.  He was the first pastor of the third parish that the Augustinians ever began to serve in Michigan:  Saint Matthew.  He, like many others following his footsteps, has served the parishioners of the Saint Matthew Community ever since.

In our time here at Saint Matthew, many Augustinians have left indelible marks on the thousands of lives that have filled these pews.  And while it is true that we will be leaving Flint by the end of this year, it is also true that we will continue to walk together with you in spirit on our journey toward knowing God.  The memories you have given us will live on with us as the remaining friars here depart toward their respective new communities.

Please join the Augustinians in celebrating one final Mass of Thanksgiving in Flint, with a reception to follow.
