Rev. Frederick J. Winn, O.S.A. entered eternal life April 24, 1962.
Frederick John Winn was born March 18, 1906 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Peter and Emma (Grandpré) Winn. He was Baptized March 26, 1906 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lawrence. He received the Sacrament of Confirmation October 9, 1919 at the same church.
After receiving his education at St. Mary School and at Lawrence High School, both in Lawrence, he entered the Augustinian program of formation at Augustinian Academy, Staten Island, New York. He was received into the Augustinian Novitiate September 9, 1928. He professed vows in the Order of St. Augustine September 10, 1932.
He earned a B. A. in Philosophy from Villanova College, Villanova, Pennsylvania, in 1932. He then pursued theological studies at Augustinian College, Washington, D. C. He was ordained a Priest June 11, 1935.
Father Winn taught at Cascia Hall, Tulsa, Oklahoma, from 1936 to 1950. He taught at St. Rita High School, Chicago, Illinois, from 1950 to 1963. In 1953 he was named Prior (local superior) and Assistant Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Rockford, Illinois.
In 1956 Father Winn was transferred to Mendel Catholic High School, Chicago, where he was named Prior. He died there suddenly April 24, 1962.
He is buried in the Augustinian plot at St. Mary Cemetery, Lawrence, Massachusetts.
