The Midwest Augustinians are thrilled to introduce the Friends of Augustine initiative, a new opportunity for lay people to deepen their spiritual lives and embrace the rich tradition of Augustinian spirituality. This program invites participants to journey alongside the Augustinian family, exploring the teachings of St. Augustine through faith, fellowship, and formation.
What is the Friends of Augustine Initiative?
Rooted in Unitas (unity), Veritas (truth), and Caritas (love), the “Friends of Augustine” offers an accessible way to connect with the Augustinian charisms without requiring formal commitments. Over six months, participants will engage in:
Monthly Meetings: Gather to learn, share, and grow in faith.
Study of The Rule: Discover practical and spiritual wisdom for a Christ-centered life.
Prayer and Reflection: Experience the richness of personal and communal prayer practices.
Retreat Opportunities: Renew your spirit through dedicated times of prayer and fellowship.
This initiative emphasizes inclusivity, making it open to anyone drawn to the teachings of St. Augustine, regardless of prior affiliation with the Augustinians or even location.
Why Join?
The Friends of Augustine initiative fosters a sense of unity in a divided world, providing a space to grow closer to God and others. Inspired by St. Augustine’s words, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you,” the program invites all to journey toward deeper faith and communion with God.
