Br. John Patrick Currier, O.S.A. (1943-2021)
Earl Thomas Currier was born April 3, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Earl and Mary Alice (Tiernan) Currier. He was Baptized June 13, 1943 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Chicago. He received the Sacrament of Confirmation May 11, 1953 at St. Columbanus Catholic Church, Chicago.
After studying at St. Rita High School, Chicago, Earl was accepted in 1960 as a candidate in the Augustinian formation program for brothers. He took the religious name John Patrick.
John Patrick was received into the Augustinian Novitiate September 3, 1963. He professed simple (temporary) vows September 4, 1964 and solemn (permanent) vows September 4, 1967.
John Patrick served in different capacities within the province in various locations throughout his ministerial life. He was known to be a good chef and an excellent tailor. For a good number of years, he made the habits for the members of the province. He also loved to tell jokes and stories with his contagious laughter that would make the listener enjoy his company.

Declining health caused him to be assigned in July of 2017 to Bl. Stephen Bellesini Friary, Crown Point, Indiana, where he could receive the needed health care.
On May 6, 2021, Brother Currier entered eternal life.
