A Fundraising Update on Our "Pope Francis Home Challenge"

A few short weeks ago, Augustinian schools and parishes across the Midwest joined together to raise money for "The Pope Francis Home Challenge."  We partnered with Habitat for Humanity Chicago to build a home for the Power Family on the South Side of Chicago.

We are working together - with hammers, drills, and paint brushes - to make sure families in Chicago have a better chance of achieving stability and decent housing with Habitat for Humanity Chicago. Throughout this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis asks us to "shelter the homeless" among other works of mercy. Help us reach our team fundraising goal and make the dream of home real for another deserving family! This page is the goal for the Augustinians' Midwest Province in the United States!  Here's some of the progress we've made to date:

  • There are three dates at the build site specifically reserved for volunteers from the Midwest Augustinians to build.  There are 35 spots open on March 24th (Holy Thursday), 10 spots on April 16th, and 35 spots on May 7th.
  • Cascia Hall Preparatory School in Tulsa has pledged the funds from their "Anti-Prom" dance!  Thank you so much!
  • St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago has committed to a $2,000 fundraising goal and are planning ideas to reach the goal.  The school is also reaching out to members of the Fathers' Club and their sons to volunteer their time to help build.
  • The Augustinians in formation at Saint Augustine Friary will also work toward making a modest contribution as part of their Lenten project.

We're trying to raise $20,000 all together.  Now is your chance to make a significant impact in the lives of others.  Click the link below to learn more about the challenge and find ways to get involved.
