Message from the Prior Provincial for the Feast of Saint Augustine

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

May the Lord bless each and everyone of you as we celebrate the Feast of Our Holy Father Augustine. His influence through his living and written testimony is timely and relevant today as we continue to explore what our purpose is – that is, to LOVE. Love is a word we use all too often to express many things that we like or prefer. We can take love out of its relational context and apply it to these things that come and go, even inanimate objects that cannot reciprocate the love we search for. Perhaps this is part of the plan whereby we discover our personal and collective struggle by grounding ourselves in both human and divine love. The restless nature of this exploration can teach us something of the restlessness of our spiritual journey, the restlessness that deepens our yearning to see the face of God.

Back in August of 2013, Pope Francis, addressing this human restlessness says:
“[R]estlessness is always seeking the good of others, of loved ones, with intensity…The restlessness of love always encourages us to reach out to the other without waiting for the other to express his/her needs.” This is where we encounter the face of God.

Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.
