Job Opening: Director of Communications

The Midwest Augustinian Province has an employment opportunity for a Director of Communications at our offices in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago. The successful candidate will work closely with the Province’s Director of Advancement to develop and implement communication strategies and special events for our donors, parishioners, students, and alumni. This person must be self-driven, service-oriented, and possess strong written composition and graphic design skills. He or she must be comfortable with and capable of writing texts consistent with Catholic theology and doctrine.

Our Province also serves many Spanish-speaking communities, so those with Spanish language fluency are especially encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities will be to:

  • Promote the overall visibility and public awareness of the Midwest Augustinian ministries, parishes, schools, and foreign missions.

  • Manage all digital and direct mail outreach, including email marketing and social media campaigns.

  • Edit our quarterly magazine, which includes the solicitation of articles from amongst our priests, brothers, parishioners, and donors.

  • Write news articles, press releases, letters, and other related content for all print and web-based communications.

  • Maintain communication channels with all of our parishes, schools, and houses in order to stay abreast of events and projects.

  • Manage donor acknowledgement efforts including letters, donor walls, and annual giving society events and benefits.

  • Create invitations for all events including fundraisers, ordinations, and feast days

  • Manage the outreach efforts for our annual fundraising gala and all event planning necessary for a large banquet.

  • Generate communication materials and social media strategies for Annual Giving and future capital campaigns.

The Director of Communications must be willing to take on a strenuous work schedule that often includes weeknights and weekends and extended travel. Occasional remote work is possible; however, we are looking for someone who can also regularly be present in our Chicago office.

Qualified Candidates will need to possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field

  • Proven written communication skills in a fast-paced environment

  • A high level of social media and web fluency

  • Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite

  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office

  • Strong project management skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple and complex tasks with hard deadlines

  • Experience with Squarespace and Constant Contact

Salary: $65,000 to $70,000
