Justice & Peace Grant Enables Speaker Series at St. Jude Parish, New Lenox, IL

The Midwest Augustinians’ Justice & Peace Commission approves grants for Augustinian projects that promote peace and justice - in this case, a speaker series at St. Jude Parish in New Lenox, IL, which is operated by the Augustinians.

The speaker series, “Called to Discipleship” is a three-part series that explores what it means to be a modern disciple of Christ.

On February 17, 2025, St. Jude hosted its first of the three events, a speech from Kevin Oliver, Theology Teacher at Providence Catholic High School, giving an overview of the seven tenets of Catholic Social Teaching.

On March 8, 2025, “Giving Voice to the Voiceless” with Sr. Norma Pimentel, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley took place.

On April 12, 2025, the church will host the third and final event called “Living Out the Call” with Sr. Emily Tekolste, Grassroots Mobilization Coordinator at NETWORK Lobby for Justice.
