Fr. Henry Maibusch, O.S.A. Publishes Padre Serra Tribute
Father Henry Maibusch, O.S.A., recently released his work Padre Serra: A Tribute in Verse through the U.S.A. Council of Serra International. Serra International fosters and affirms vocations to the priesthood and vowed religious life.
Before recently moving to the Augustinian retirement community in Crown Point, Indiana, Fr. Henry was assigned to the Augustinian community in Racine, Wisconsin. He dedicated his unpublished manuscript to “all the men and women, who over the years, were members of Serra International, as part of the Serra Club of Kenosha, Wisconsin.” The work chronicles the life of Blessed Junipero, Serra, O.F.M., a Spanish Franciscan friar who founded many missions in Southern California. One aspect of his legacy is a patronage for promoting vocations.
In the manuscript’s foreward, Fr. Maibusch explains that people have already written many works about the life of Blessed Serra including books, plays, and even a Hollywood movie. He remarks, “Herewith is my own modest contribution to this vast pool of Serran literature in the form of an unpublished manuscript, namely Padre Serra, A Tribute in Verse.
