A Message from the Provincial: The Death of Pope Francis
Pope Francis passed away on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
God’s Mercy has no limitations. The Holy Father completed his earthly journey. I invite all of us to accompany him and the whole Church with our fraternal thoughts and prayers.
Pope Francis left us a twelve-year legacy of pastoral leadership and service par excellence. His writings and his living example offer us a landscape of profound theological insights as well as practical use of the intellect and the heart, integrating the Gospel message into our lives and our service to the Church.
He has invited us time and again to a "renewed sense of hope." In Fratelli Tutti, for example, he writes, "Hope speaks to us of a thirst, an aspiration, a longing for a life of fulfillment, a desire to achieve great things, things that fill our heart and lift our spirit to lofty realities like truth, goodness and beauty, justice and love…Hope is bold." (Fratelli Tutti, 55).
In the current circumstances and issues affecting our Province overall, hope animates and gives purpose for our journey together. We accompany one another.
+Requiescat in Pace+
Fraternally,
Rev. Anthony B. Pizzo, OSA
