Celebrating Healing and Restoration: A Transformative Women's Retreat at the Carmelite Spiritual Center

"I loved the fact that every activity, witness, prayer, etc. tied in so closely to the theme! I’ve been to many retreats where the theme was vague or unclear or just not well represented. This was so well planned and allowed for a much deeper dive."

We are thrilled to share the success and profound impact of our recent women’s retreat, held at the serene Carmelite Spiritual Center.

Themed "Healing and Restoration," this retreat was a testament to the power of spiritual growth, community, and personal reflection. With 29 women in attendance, the retreat offered a sanctuary for all to deepen their faith and experience renewal in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Guided by the wisdom and spiritual leadership of Fr. Jim Halstead, O.S.A, Augustinian Affiliate Bonnie Leighty from Cascia Hall, and Maryellen Harrington, Director of Lay Engagement for the Midwest Augustinians, the retreat provided a rich tapestry of activities designed to align closely with our healing and restoration theme. Participants engaged in a variety of meaningful activities, from heartfelt witness talks and prayer sessions to small group discussions and personal reflection times.

“I enjoyed the whole retreat, I thought it moved at just the right speed. I especially appreciated that I could come on Saturday morning and didn’t have to spend the night. I could not have attended if I had to stay Friday night.”

A highlight of the retreat was the Anointing Service, a spiritual moment that resonated deeply with many attendees. This service, along with the various other elements of the retreat, provided a space for participants to experience genuine spiritual renewal and a sense of divine presence.

"The Anointing Service was the most spiritual moment for me. It was a very inspirational day. It is hard to pick one favorite part."

The retreat also fostered a strong sense of community and connection. The intentional arrangement to change tables and meet new people throughout the retreat allowed for diverse interactions and the sharing of personal stories. This structure ensured that every woman had the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow with others in the group.

We are deeply grateful to all who participated and contributed to making this retreat a memorable and transformative experience. The Carmelite Spiritual Center provided the perfect backdrop for a weekend dedicated to spiritual healing and restoration. As we continue our journey of faith, we look forward to more opportunities for growth and connection within our community. Let us carry the spirit of this retreat forward, embodying the healing and restoration we experienced and sharing it with those around us.

Thank you to everyone who made this retreat possible, and to all the wonderful women who attended. We eagerly anticipate our next gathering, united in faith and fellowship.

"Yesterday, was such a wonderful experience for me.  The witness talks... were amazing and set-up our table to have such fruitful discussions.  I know you have changed so many lives with this retreat."
