As we celebrate this beautiful season of Christmas, I want to take a moment to share some thoughts with you...
Christmas typically conjures up thoughts of joy, expressions of love, and celebration, and offers us a wonderful opportunity for reflection – on the year behind us, and the year that lies ahead. And as we prepare for this sacred season, I encourage each of us to consider what we can offer one another that truly expresses our love and appreciation.
It’s easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of the season, focusing on events and material gifts. But I urge us all to remember that the most meaningful gifts often come from the heart. A kind word, a helping hand, or simply spending quality time with someone can have a lasting impact. These are the gifts that nourish our relationships and strengthen family bonds, deepens friendships and expresses our Augustinian charism, the gift that we offer the Church.
While we think about what we can give to others, we could also consider – unselfishly – what we ask for ourselves. This Christmas, let’s reflect on what we truly need in our lives. What is it that nourishes our spirits and fills our hearts with gratitude. Perhaps it’s patience, understanding, or even the courage to forgive. By acknowledging our own needs, we can open ourselves up to receiving the love and support that feeds us and satisfies our thirst.
As we gather this year with family and friends, let’s make a conscious effort to embrace the spirit of giving. Let’s be intentional about these gifts we share and the ones we seek for ourselves. In doing so, we will not only enrich our own lives but also bring joy to those around us.
We, Augustinian Friars, are very thankful for the expressions of generosity that many of you share with us as we walk together to build up the Kingdom of God in Christ who accompanies us on that journey…As St. Augustine says, He has become our justice, our sanctification, our redemption…

Saludos, Greetings, Salve de parte de la Provincia Agustina del Medio Oeste de Nuestra Madre del Buen Consejo en Chicago.
Mientras celebramos esta hermosa temporada de Navidad, quisiera tomarme un momento para compartir algunas reflexiones con ustedes.
La Navidad generalmente evoca pensamientos de alegría, expresiones de amor y celebración y nos ofrece una maravillosa oportunidad de reflexión – sobre el año que quedó atrás, y sobre el año que esta por venir. Y mientras nos preparamos para esta temporada sagrada, los animo a cada uno de nosotros a considerar lo que podemos ofrecernos unos a otros que verdaderamente exprese nuestro amor y aprecio.
Es fácil dejarse llevar por el ajetreo de la temporada, enfocándonos en los eventos y los regalos materiales. Pero insto a todos a recordar que los regalos más significativos a menudo vienen del corazón. Una palabra amable, una mano amiga o simplemente el pasar tiempo de calidad con alguien puede tener un impacto duradero. Estos son los regalos que nutren nuestras relaciones y fortalecen los vínculos familiares, profundizan las amistades y expresan nuestro carisma agustiniano, el regalo que ofrecemos a la Iglesia.
Mientras pensamos en lo que podemos dar a los demás, también podríamos considerar –desinteresadamente– lo que pedimos para nosotros mismos. Esta Navidad, reflexionemos sobre lo que realmente necesitamos en nuestras vidas. Qué es lo que nutre nuestro espíritu y llena nuestro corazón de gratitud. Tal vez es la paciencia, la comprensión o incluso el coraje de perdonar. Al reconocer nuestras propias necesidades, podemos abrirnos a recibir el amor y el apoyo que nos alimenta y satisface nuestra sed.
Al reunirnos este año con familiares y amigos, hagamos un esfuerzo consciente para adoptar el espíritu de dar. Seamos intencionales con los regalos que compartimos y los que buscamos para nosotros mismos. Al hacerlo, no solo enriqueceremos nuestras propias vidas, sino que también llevaremos alegría a quienes nos rodean. Nosotros, los Frailes Agustinos, estamos muy agradecidos por las expresiones de generosidad que muchos de ustedes comparten con nosotros mientras caminamos juntos para construir el Reino de Dios en Cristo que nos acompaña en ese camino… Como dice San Agustín, Él se ha convertido en nuestra justicia, nuestra santificación, nuestra redención…
Gracias por ser parte de nuestra familia Agustiniana. Les deseo a todos una Feliz Navidad llena de amor, paz y conexiones significativas. Dios los bendiga.
