Fr. Bernie Scianna, O.S.A. Re-elected as Prior Provincial
We are now preparing for the Christmas Season when we celebrate the Great Feast of the Birth of Jesus when, as St. Augustine reminds us, "The Divine became human, so that we as humans might become Divine." As we recognize and reaffirm the Presence of Christ in us and amongst us, we continue to be that Presence to each other in community and to those to whom we minister.
I was very humbled and affirmed by our Province's strong support for me for a second term as Prior Provincial. I will continue to serve to the best of my ability for the next four years knowing that I have your continued prayers and support. I am grateful for Rev. Tony Pizzo, O.S.A. and his willingness to accept his nomination to also run for Prior Provincial. I am confident that he will continue to do great work as the Pastor of St. Rita Parish in Chicago.
I am continually delighted, as I move around the Province, to hear of the many acts of kindness and generosity, most often done without any fanfare or attention, that our current friars and our predecessors have done for individuals and families that have had significant and often life-changing effects on them. For this, I am very grateful. This is the true meaning of the Season...where charity and love prevail, there God is ever found!
Thank you again for your support of the Augustinians. I will continue to lead the Province with special emphasis on encouraging vocations, care for our elders and supporting all of our ministries to the best of my ability. Thank You for your love and support and May God Bless You and Your families! A Blessed Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year to All!
Sincerely in Christ and St. Augustine,
Very Rev. Bernard C. Scianna, O.S.A., Ph.D.
Prior Provincial of the Midwest Augustinians
