Two Augustinians Ordained in Peru
On April 26, 2014, the Feast of Our Mother of Good Counsel, Bishop Dan Turley, O.S.A., ordained two Peruvian Augustinians. Carlos Chávez Rojas, O.S.A., was ordained to the priesthood and Segundo Sabino Pichén Cotrina, O.S.A., was ordained a deacon. These ordinations are particularly special, as they occurred during the Augustinians' 50th anniversary of missionary presence in Northern Peru.
The Augustinians have served in Peru since St. John XXIII called them to serve there in 1962. The Augustinians were assigned the mission territory of what is now the Diocese of Chulucanas, along the border with Ecuador. Bishop Turley is the diocese's second bishop, following Bishop John C. McNabb, O.S.A. To learn more about the Augustinians in Peru, please click here. Please also enjoy the photos from this ordination below and share!
